Douglas Randolf Townsend

Douglas Townsend Kosciusko Rev. Douglas Randolph Townsend (born May 1942) died at Attala County Nursing Home on May 2, 2020. He had been married to his wife, Fannie Mae Steen Townsend for fifty-four years. She passed away earlier this year. Douglas graduated from Southeastern University, where he became a licensed minister, and then later Ordained in 1974. Over the years, he pastored churches in Newtown, MS; Donalsonville, GA; LeFayette, GA; Bloomville, KY; Sardis, MS; and Attala, MS. Both Douglas and his wife served as Choctaw missionaries for 16 years in the Philadelphia area. He enjoyed outdoor activities including walking, building projects, and tending animals. He was preceded in death by his parents, Van Horn Townsend and Lena Vista Whitmire Townsend, and his brothers, Thomas Townsend and David Townsend. Survivors include daughters, Vista Townsend and Vileta Su; granddaughter, Vista Su; brothers, Elijah Townsend, Jack Townsend, and Edward Townsend; sister, Alma Bates; and a host of nephews and nieces.
