Donald "Donnie" Spears

Donnie Spears, 68, of Brandon, passed away April 3, 2023, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Graveside services are at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Ebenezer Cemetery near Ethel. Rev. Kenny Gentry will officiate.

Donnie was born on February 7, 1955, to Jessie Spears and Ramona Coghlan Spears in Philadelphia, Mississippi. He worked as a foreman in several factories, as well as a school teacher for many years. His last job was in construction for Deviney Construction Company. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Donnie survived by four brothers, John (Jan) Spears, and David (Barbara) Spears of Ethel, Mississippi, Barry (Mary) Spears of Kosciusko, Mississippi, and Ronald (Shirley) Spears of Brandon, Mississippi; two sisters, Jessica Rose Jernigan of Ethel, Mississippi, and Barbara Ruthene (Kerry) Gregory of Zama, Mississippi. He also was survived by a host of nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jessie Lee Spears and Ramona Spears; brother, Ira Lee Spears; brother-in-law, Frank Jernigan.

The four brothers, Barry Spears, David Spears, Ronnie Spears, and John Spears will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be sent to Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery c/o Regina Parks 9454 Highway 19 South Kosciusko, Mississippi.
