Dixie Willis Jordan

Dixie Willis Jordan, 103, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am Monday, June 27, 2022, at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Bethel Cemetery in Leake County. Rev. Guy Odom and Ray Johnson will officiate. Mrs. Jordan was a native of Neshoba County. She was born in 1919 and lived in Leake County since her marriage to Robert Dewitt Jordan in 1943. They were married 64 years before his death on January 5, 2007. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1937, East Central Junior College in 1939, and Mississippi Southern University in 1941 with a B.S. Degree in Home Economics and Science. She did graduate work from Mississippi State University, University of Southern Mississippi, and the University of Alabama. She taught school in Attala, Leake, and Neshoba Counties. Later she received a lifetime elementary teaching certificate from Mississippi State University and taught elementary school. She retired in 1974 to be at home with Dewitt on the cattle farm. She was a Christian, loved the Lord, and her church at Bethel Baptist in Leake County where she taught Sunday school for a long time both to young people and adult Sunday school classes. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church until its closing and was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church until her passing. Mrs. Dixie was survived by two sons, Robert Gerald (wife Betty) Jordan of Edinburg, MS, and Johnny Willis (wife Sherry) Jordan of Marydell, MS; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Dr. Lester C. Willis of Ecru, MS, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dewitt Jordan; parents, LeRoy Willis and Lizzie Devine Willis; three brothers, Theo C. Willis, Hester Willis, Max G. Willis; four sisters, Ruby L. Mohon, Hazel E. Johnson, Naomi F. Ryals, and Zudye B. Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to missions of your choice or to Bethel Cemetery Fund.
