Coy Richard Sorenson, 21, died on Saturday, July 26, 2014. Visitation will be Friday, August 1, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Mcclenny, FL. Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of the local arrangements. Rev. Jeffrey Hutchison will officiate. Coy was born in Hazen, ND on February 7, 1993. He went to elementary school in Sheridan, WY; junior high is Starkville, MS and high school in Kosciusko, MS, where he graduated WITH HONORS in 2011. Coy was a star pitcher for the Kosciusko Whippets, earning Division IV pitcher of the year. Coy continued his love of baseball playing at both East Central Community College and Holmes Jr College. In addition to his outstanding physical attributes, Coy was highly intelligent, attending all three collegiate years on a full academic scholarship as well as achieving the dean's list each consecutive semester. He was excited to attend Mississippi State University this semester to further his studies in Engineering. He worked the last three summers as an apprentice engineer and was looking forward to coming home to see his family and "dysfunctional friends" as he put it. Coy had aspirations to achieve greatness, and the intelligence, determination and focus to do so. Coy was loved by all and was known to be respectful, intelligent, funny, talented, hardworking, a caring soul, a proud mama's boy, and a wonderful friend to so many. Coy is survived by his mother, Lauri Bell and Daddy, Shane Bell, of Pensacola, FL; his father, Scott Sorenson and wife, Karen of Gillette, WY; two brothers, Gage Sorenson and Garrett Bell, both of Pensacola, FL; step siblings, Isaac, Catherine, Jacob and Lauren; grandparents, Janice and George Hawkey of Bull Shoals, AR, Dennis and Diane Forsyth of British Columbia, Beth and Bernard McLellan of Kosciusko, and Richard and Dora Sorenson of Bismarck, ND. Coy was preceded in death by his uncle, Matthew Forsyth; his beloved Papaw, Sonny Bell, and is accompanied in death by his mother's heart. As Coy's many friends have expressed, he will be missed for his goofy personality, his ability to lift spirits, his witness, his intelligence, kind soul, and teamwork. Watch over us #20. Pallbearers are his baseball teammates at Kosciusko High School, East Central Community College, and Holmes Jr College.
