Charles Poindexter

Only July 14, 2023, Charles E. Poindexter, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother went to his heavenly home. Graveside service is 1:30 p.m., Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Bear Creek Cemetery in McCool, Mississippi. Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charles was born March 18, 1939, in Water Valley, Mississippi to his parents Mildfred and Nettie Mae Poindexter. He was a veteran in the United States Army and enjoyed sharing his stories about his time of service in Germany. Charles worked for ICRR/CN for 37 years as a mechanic and carman/ inspector. In his free time, he loved to work in his yard and hunt.

He was a longstanding member of First Baptist Church of Kosciusko prior to serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Colonial Hills Church in Southhaven, Mississippi.

Charles is survived by his wife of 63 years, Faye Huffman Poindexter; son Kenneth (Lenee) Poindexter; daughter Teresa (Steve) Calhoun; granddaughter Sarah Calhoun; grandson Zachary Calhoun; and brother Van (Linda) Poindexter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildford and Nettie Mae Poindexter, and brothers James Poindexter, Earl Poindexter, and Forrest Poindexter.

Kenneth Poindexter, Steve Calhoun, Zachary Calhoun, Mike McElwain, Corey McElwain, and Robert Autry will serve as pallbearers.
