Charles Kelly Black, 79, of McCool, MS passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his residence June 1, 2022. Visitation is 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2022, and 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.Friday, June 3, 2022 at Jordan Funeral Home. Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery. Rev. Doyle Mitchell will officiate. Charles was born January 25, 1943, in Ethel, MS to Issac Kelly Black and Mildred Proctor. He was an active member of Liberty Hill United Methodist Church. He was a volunteer fireman with the McCool fire Dept and was instrumental in getting it established. He was a retired election commissioner, and a High School Football Referee and Co-founder of the Attala Beagle Club, and was retired from the railroad with over 29 years with Illinois Central. Charles is survived by his wife, Nell McKnight Black; sons, Vernon Kelly (Marci) Black of Hobbs, NM and William Shane (Tammy) Black of McCool, MS; brother, Jerry (Connie) Black of Pascagoula, MS; sister, Rebecca (Mac) McKinney of Kingwood, TX; grandchildren, Josh Burns, Justin Burns, Lauren Keith, and Logan Ray; great-grandchildren, Hayden Burns, Belle Burns, Brody Burns, Rusden Burns, Brianna Chunn, Jayden Chunn, and Willa-Kayte Keith; great-great grandson, Asher Burns; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Issac Kelly Black and Mildred Proctor Black; sister, Gloria Jean Graham; brothers, Dennis Black and David Black. Serving as pallbearers are Marty McKnight, Rusty McKnight, Jeffrey McKnight, Scott Cook, Harold Graham, John Graham, Justin Black, and Luke McKnight. Honorary pallbearers Morris Massey, William chesteen, J.W. Black, Doc Jones, Bill Gordon, Larry Wheeless, and Terry Cobb.
