Cecil "Tecy" Jones

Cecil “Tecy” Jones of Sumner, Mississippi, 75, passed away January 9, 2023. Visitation is 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2023 at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Funeral service is 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2023 at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Dickerson Cemetery in Newport Community, Mississippi. Randy Rhodes will officiate.

Cecil Allen “Tecy” Jones was born August 4, 1947 in Attala County near Goodman, MS. He grew up in the small Delta town of Webb, Mississippi. From 1965 to 1968, he was in the United States Army serving in Germany. Following service to his country, he went to Northwest Junior College before completing a Master’s degree in Psychology at Delta State University. Cecil worked as a guidance counselor in the school system. He worked as a teacher at Vaiden and a guidance counselor in West Tallahatchie School District in Webb and a counselor at Lexington. He took a 16-year break in public education and carried on the family business operating their Phillips 66 Service Station and Grocery Store. Cecil loved learning about family history and collecting antiques. He loved animals, always having dogs and cats.

Cecil is survived by daughters Amy (Joel) Edlin of Oxford, Mississippi, and Carol Turner (Will Felty) of Charleston, Mississippi; sons Scott (Shelia) Ray of North Carolina and James Jones of Florida; brother Marshall (Jamie) Jones; sisters Eva Helen Almon and Bobbi Kincaid; grandchildren Tiffany, Stephannie, Hunter, Josh, Dustin, Lydia, Devyn, Alex, George, and Trace; great- grandchildren Paxton, Piper, Lane, Rylan, Rowen; and number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Cecil Jones and Minnie Eudura Billings Jones; sister Emogene Burrell; brother William Waverly “Wade” Jones; and granddaughter Anna Sophia Turner.
