Bonnie T. Abels, 85, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at her home. Visitation is from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, April 11 at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11 in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Barry Corbett and Rev. Junior Davis will officiate the chapel service and Rev. Mark Parnell will officiate at the graveside. Mrs. Abels was born February 12, 1930 to Mylum and Lucy Wardine Tindoll. She first worked at Wade Harvey's Drug Store on the Kosciusko Court Square. She held the position of the Women's Pre-release Center and later retired from the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman. She loved her work and was an avid reader. She was also a member of Kosciusko First Baptist Church. Those surviving her are a daughter, Bobbie B. Mitchell of Kosciusko; and sons, Allen L. (Sue) Abels, II of Kosciusko and Joseph Scott Abels; grandchildren, Memory Jones of Watuga, TX, Derek (Kim) Carpenter of Grenada, and Conan Roberts of Waynesboro, MS; great-grandchildren, Declan Jones, Trevor Costilow, Cameron Roberts, and Lexton Roberts; and a great-great-grandson, Cayden Costilow. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen L. Abels; and sisters, Johnnie Thompson, Barbara Threet, and Patsy Cummings. Memorials may be sent to French Camp Academy or Kosciusko First Baptist Church.
