Betty Jean Deason passed away peacefully at her home on November 9, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born on October 8, 1935, in Kosciusko, MS to Benford and Jewell Carter. She graduated from Kosciusko High School in 1956. Her church membership was with the First Methodist Protestant Church and she was affiliated with Crestview Congregational Methodist Church. Betty married Robert L. Deason on May 25, 1956 and together they raised a family of four sons that adored her. She loved making a home for her family and was an avid gardener.


Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Meggs will officiate the services.


Betty was preceded in death by her father and mother Benford and Jewel Carter, husband Robert L. Deason, son Mark Deason, sister Alter June Carter, brother-in-law Lester B. Moore and great grandchild Olivia Lee.


She is survived by three sons, Tim (Jamie) Deason, Jan (Cindy) Deason, Steve (Claire) Deason; a brother Everett Carter, and a sister, Louise Moore. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.


The family is grateful to Amber Nunn for her dedication as a caregiver to our mom during her time of illness at home. Also, we appreciate the service and support rendered by Accent Care Hospice and most especially Jackie Tharpe.
