Ben Carroll Murphy, 83, passed away September 10, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. Visitation is Saturday, September 13, 2014 form 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko, MS. Funeral services are 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Shiloh Cemetery. He was a member of the Shiloh Independent Methodist Church near Carmack. He was a Mason and a member of the Greenville MS Lodge. He was also a member of the Shriners Lodge in Jackson. He was working toward his PHD from Mississippi State University and just needed to submit his dissertation. He is survived by sons, Lanny (Kathy) Murphy of Tyler, TX and Patrick (Nancy) Murphy of IL; daughters, Kathy (Lynnwood) David of Chatsworth, CA and Kay (Pete) Soffretti of Danville, VA; twenty-two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Billy Murphy of Statesboro, GA, Charles Marlin Murphy of Knoxville, TN, and Dan Aaron Murphy of Nesbitt, MS; and sister, Mary Eunice Thornton of Orange, TX. Memorials may be made to the Shiloh Cemetery fund.
