Alvin Dewitt Burchfield, 86, died September 17, 2014 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital in Kosciusko. Visitation is Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 12-2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. The memorial service is Sunday, September 21, 2014 in the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Rock Bluff Cemetery located between Morton and Puckett. He served his country in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. He also served as Commander of the American Legion and VFW. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Faye Means Burchfield of Kosciusko; daughter, Donna Faye Burchfield of Philadelphia, PA; son, Alvin "Al" Dewitt Burchfield, Jr. of Watkinsville, GA; grandchildren, Hilary Burchfield, Calie Traver, Hannah Burchfield, Levin Traver, and Avery Burchfield; great-grandchildren, Brooks Burchfield, Madeleine Kahikina, and Oliver Kahikina; brothers, Charles Burchfield of Kosciusko and Leonard Burchfield of Ethel; and sisters, Ruth Pitt of Marietta, GA and Lois Ivey of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Len and Lillie May Burchfield; sisters, Lena White and Laura Mangrum; and brothers, Luther Burchfield and Albert "Alb" Lee Burchfield.
