James A. Boyd, Jr., 87, of Kosciusko, passed away March 1, 2023, at the Martha Jo Leslie State Veterans Home in Kosciusko. Visitation is 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church Kosciusko. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Phillip Palmertree will officiate.
James was born June 13, 1935, to James Boyd, Sr. and Mildred Watson Boyd in Jackson, Mississippi.
He graduated from Kosciusko High School in 1953 after graduation he served his country joined the U.S. Navy as a medic. He attained his Pharmacy degree at the University of Mississippi. James was the owner of Boyd’s Drug Store for 57 years and was a member of First Presbyterian Church Kosciusko where he served as an elder and recent years as elder emeritus.
James is survived by his wife, Virginia M. Boyd of Kosciusko; 4 nieces and 2 nephews in Charlotte, NC and a host of great nieces and nephews.
