Jackie Martin, long-time Kosciusko resident, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022 at the Choctaw Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (CNRC), Ackerman, MS. A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Parkway Cemetery with Jordan Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Jackie was born September 19, 1931 at Tool, TX to Marvin and Pheba Snowden. After graduating from Malakoff High School in 1949 she attended Baylor School of Nursing in Dallas, TX. While working in the hospital ER she met her future husband, Mike Martin, who was attending Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. In 1951 the Martins moved to Kosciusko where they were members of First Baptist Church. In 1961 the family moved to Fairgrounds St. to a home they owned for 52 years. Many may recall Jackie as the office nurse for Dr. Claude Jackson where for over 40 years she cared for most of Kosciusko’s new mothers. After Mike’s passing and with her own health failing, Jackie moved to Ackerman to live with her daughter, Martha Jane. For the past eight years she has resided at CNRC. Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Martin, her parents, siblings Isabel White, Barbara “Bill” Jones and Melvy Snowden and her daughter, Martha Jane Reid. She is survived by son, Randy (Jamie) Martin of Lake; daughter, Marilyn (Del) Gatlin of College Station, TX; and son-in-law Dale Reid of Ackerman. Also surviving her are grandchildren Lee (Jeri) Martin of Brandon, Craig (Brooke) Martin of Sebastopol, Dee (Andrea) Gatlin of Corpus Christi, TX, Miranda (Josh) Worrell of Ackerman, and Bo (Mary) Reid of Lufkin, TX. Great-grandchildren are Ben, Ava Claire, Gabby Kate, Jebb, Lily Dale, Noah, Samuel, Hannah Jane and Monroe.
