Dennis R. Mayo, 73, of Ethel, Mississippi passed away Monday, December 18, 2023, at Martha Jo Leslie State Veterans Home. Visitation is 11 :00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 21, 2023at Jordan Funeral Home. Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Parkway Cemetery. Rev. Danny Rosamond will officiate.
Dennis was born January 7, 1950, to James Edwards Mayo and Dorothy Elaine Bain Mayo in Attala County, Mississippi. He was a veteran of Vietnam Conflict serving with the United States Army. Dennis had retired from working as a body repairman. He worked for Rawson’s Auto Repair and Holts Body Shop.
Dennis is survived by his daughters Jennifer (Yolanda) Simmons of Brandon, Mississippi, Kaley Engle of Kosciusko, Mississippi, Ashley Mayo of Sherwood, Arkansas, Hannah Clark of Kosciusko, Mississippi, and Courtney Engle of Kosciusko, Mississippi; brother Glenn (Diane) Mayo of Ethel, Mississippi; sisters Debra (Mack) Hodge of Byram, Mississippi and Carol Sanders (fiancé’ Henry) of West, Mississippi; fourteen grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents James Edward Mayo and Dorothy Elaine Bain Mayo, granddaughter Bailee Wilson, and Grandma Mayo.
Serving as pallbearers are James Hester, Brady Hester, Caleb Hudson, and Damien Dunn.
